What You Do Not Want to Hear From Your Roofer

When it comes to residential roof maintenance, repair and replacement services, you want to make sure you are working with the right people. Your contractor must not only offer high-quality products but also superior workmanship. To find the right roofer, it would help to do your research, read reviews and ask the right questions.

Here are some things you never want to hear from a roofing contractor.

I Can’t Show You a Certificate of Insurance

One of the first things you should ask a prospective roofing contractor is proof of license. They should have liability insurance and worker’s compensation as well. The documents will protect you in case someone gets injured, or your home sustains damage during the project. Do not even consider a roofer who says they do not have a license and certificate of insurance.

Your Roof Needs to Be Replaced ASAP

As much as possible, you should hire a local contractor for your projects. To get a list of roofers in your area, you can simply search, “residential and commercial roofing contractors near me.” Moreover, if a contractor immediately suggests that you need a new roof even without performing a thorough inspection, think twice about hiring them. You should get a second opinion from another roofer just to be sure. Keep in mind that with proper maintenance and regular inspections, roofs can last for decades.

I’m Not Familiar With the Kind of Roof You Have

Some contractors would have doubts about repairing or replacing your roof. You want to stay away from these people. Only work with a roofer who has experience with the kind of roof you have. Roofing systems have different layouts, and a contractor who doesn’t know much about your roof can do more harm than good.
